Reportedly, Canada imposed a travel ban on March 18, which was due to be lifted on June 30. However, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) shared with a Canadian news agency about extending the travel restrictions till 11:59:50 PM EDT July 31.
According to the news reports, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had said that the government won’t be quick to reopen the borders. Both Canada and the USA will restrict cross-border travel at least till July 21. In addition, a new order in Council has been passed to extend Canada’s self-quarantine requirement until August 31.
Canada has done well in flattening the Coronavirus curve by imposing travel restrictions. Yet, Canada is careful about reopening its borders. Meanwhile, several provinces in the country have eased down lockdown restrictions while maintaining social distancing.
Although immigration and travel are very important to Canada’s economy than maintaining travel restrictions, the nation is holding on fast and wisely to this rule with the hope of getting fit to receive foreign travellers again in future.
