But given the current scenario, airports are making changes and trying to minimalise the impact of this on environment. Today the airlines are running on renewable energy sources. Similarly Bhopal airport is also getting in the league to achieve the green status.
Not only this, AAI has plans to install high voltage and fast-charging stations at various important locations so that it could meet the requirements of EVs. Putting light on this, the director further said that they are coming with a parking policy soon wherein they will install EV charging stations on the airport campus.
In order to reach the green target, the AAI has asked the airlines to replace the current vehicles with the EVs. Awasthi said, “Airlines have also shown positive response to replacing the vehicles with the EVs. We are hoping to make 100 per cent change by 2024”.
For those who don’t know, Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj airport is doing a terrific job when it comes to zero carbon emission and has achieved Level 2+ Carbon Accreditation of Airports Council International (ACI).
