Hola Mohalla is the most important religious festival for the Sikhs and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion by the Sikh community around the world.
Hola Mohalla starts off with the Nagar Kirtan, which is a procession led by the Panj Pyare (five beloved ones) and includes various religious and cultural displays. The procession also includes the performance of Gatkas, a traditional Sikh martial art form.
How did it start?
The festival was started by the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, who wanted to create a community of warriors who were not only skilled in battle but also in self-discipline and spirituality. The festival is a celebration of this spirit and is marked by various events and activities that reflect the values of the Sikh community.
