Arunachal Pradesh to get a new airport in Hollongi

Arunachal Pradesh is getting a new Greenfield Airport in Hollongi. The airport is situated about 15 km away from Itanagar, and will help in connecting the state by air. The all new Greenfield airport is being built with an estimated cost of INR 645 crore.
The airport will be developed by the Airports Authority of India, and it is going to develop its terminal building, city side works, pavements, and air side work. The airport will be available for operations of A-321 category aircraft. It is being reported that the airport will also get its runway extended by 500 m to accommodate A-321 type of aircraft.

The airport is being built to accommodate 200 passengers during peak hours of the day. With an area of 4100 sqm, the airport is going to have eight check-in counters. The airport is also going to be equipped with all modern facilities for passengers.
The airport should be ready for operation on August 15, 2022, and according to reports, 80 percent of the airside work is already complete. The terminal will be an energy efficient building with Rain Water Harvesting System, and sustainable landscape. The airport will also have a medical centre, fire station, among other things.
