Amsterdam bridges decked with flowers and plants to prevent cyclists from doing this

Amsterdam is one of those cities where cycling is considered a cool mode of transport among the locals as well as tourists. So much so that the numbers of bicycles outnumber the total number of residents in the city!
According to reports, as the number of bicycles is growing in Amsterdam, the city council has issued a few rules to check cyclists from parking on the bridges. The authorities plan to place flower baskets and wooden plants on canal bridges in and around Amsterdam in order to prevent cyclists from parking their cycles near bridge railings.
Reportedly, pedestrians can’t enjoy the views of canals and have to walk on the streets due to the parked bikes on the narrow sidewalks, which ultimately exposes them to incidents of road accidents and unsafe situations.
Meanwhile, the authorities are creating space for more bike stands by the canals. Amsterdam has been reopening its public and workplaces in a phased manner after the lockdown. However, due to the prevailing pandemic, people are still choosing to travel by bicycles instead of using public transport to avoid any scope of COVID-19 infection.
