As per the latest reports, heavy snowfall has been witnessed across the valley, while rain lashed the Jammu division today. If we go by what the MeT office has to say, adverse weather would continue in the valley during the next 12 hours.
Reportedly, 5 inch snow had accumulated in Srinagar city till Monday morning, whereas other popular tourist places, like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and other higher reaches received more than 1-3 ft of fresh snowfall.
These weather conditions have led to poor visibility, also affecting flight operations at Srinagar international airport, and no flight could take off or land at the airport during the morning hours.
Further, reports add that the Jammu-Srinagar highway has also been closed due to mudslides, and shooting stones at several places in the Ramban-Banihal stretch of the road.
The highway serves as the lifeline of the Kashmir valley, and is also the main road link that connects the valley to the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded -0.2°C, Pahalgam -1.4°C and Gulmarg -4.6°C as the minimum temperature today.
