The airport authorities took to Twitter to share the recent update where it said,
As per airport authorities, the airport has introduced additional check-in and baggage-drop counters to handle the crowd. Because of the runway work, some 52 arriving and departing flights will have to suffer on a daily basis.
In order to avoid rush and last moment confusion, the airport authorities have requested passengers to web check-in before reaching the airport. As per a statement issued by an airport spokesperson, “The work will include runway overlaying, runway strip grading and slope assessment, runway end safety area (RESA) grading and slope assessment, along with storm water drain construction and reinstallation of signages in the maneuvering area."
As per reports, the moment runway work started at the airport, six flights were cancelled immediately. These flights were taking passengers to Patna, Goa, Chandigarh, Udaipur, Mumbai, and Pune.
Apparently, the carpeting work was to start in November 2021 but it got delayed because of the festivals.
