As per the statement released by the officials of Negrar di Valpolicella, the mosaic was first discovered more than a 100-year ago and was a part of a Roman villa. The mosaic has been buried deep inside the earth since that time. A series of mosaic floor pictures have been released by officials displaying only a small section, which looks stunning and remarkably well-preserved and colourful.
It further mentioned that the Italian town will now make sure the floor can be seen by the public. However, they also warned that the result will not come soon and “significant resources will be needed."
Archaeologists were absolutely stunned with this discovery as the mosaic floor was unearthed almost a century after the Roman villa, which dates back to the 3rd century AD.
As of now, the old and ancient Italian sites in Italy are starting to reopen in a phased manner after a long Coronavirus triggered lockdown. The pandemic has hit Italy hard and has claimed thousands of innocent lives till now.
