For this couple, their passion for travelling the world on motorcycles has been more than just a hobby. The couple, both 56, have spent decades wandering around the world on two wheels, which only strengthen their bond. Over the years, their love for riding evolved.
Their motorcycle adventures have taken them through several countries in ASEAN, India, and Pakistan. One of their most unforgettable experiences was a journey across the Himalayas, from Delhi to Leh, where they crossed the Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable pass. Another remarkable trip was the Pakistan Autumn Ride, where they ventured to the Pakistan-China border, as well as a 14-day Borneo Ride from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu.
Taha has also participated in organized rides, such as a 21-day event from Medan to Bali to promote Visit Malaysia Year. He and his friends also organize independent charity rides across Malaysia and Thailand.
Now their daughters are running the family business, which supplies chicken and frozen meat, the couple has more freedom to travel. They have big plans, including a Balkan ride in April and a hiking trip to Nepal’s Annapurna Base Camp next October. Noraliza dreams of riding through Africa, while Taha hopes to one day embark on a ride to Makkah for Umrah.
Preparation is key for their travels. Taha maintains the motorcycles, while Noraliza handles the packing and planning. They prioritize functionality, packing clothes, a small stove, and emergency food supplies. The couple also emphasizes safety, always wearing full gear on their rides. Taha advises new riders to start small, build their confidence, and be patient. "Riding isn't something you do on a whim. Start small, get comfortable, and work your way up," he said.
