A look into the European nations that have opened up for travel

News reports are now suggesting that 30 European countries have opened up for travel. This is happening after three months of lockdown, and can prove to be a blessing for the travel industry. The opening up of borders that is happening in the month of June can allow Europeans and outsiders to travel within the European continent. July will mark the lifting of European Union travel ban in phases.
Countries such as Italy, that were largely affected by the coronavirus, are now looking forward to a promising future where travel is a possibility. Italy opened its borders on June 3 to travellers from the European Union, UK, and Schengen nations. The European Union’s promise of a European summer for tourists is becoming a reality now.

Germany, on the other hand, stopped land border checks on June 15 and has even eased the previous travel warnings to European countries that it gave to its citizens. However, visitors outside the European Union need to wait until July 1 at the very least, before they are able to enter into Germany.

Spain is looking to reopen the country to international travel starting July 1. In fact, Spain’s Balearic Islands have permitted German tourists to get into the country for a tourism trial for two weeks. Also, the country is looking to lift its state of emergency on June 21.

Apart from these three, other countries that have opened up eased travel restrictions are Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Luxembourg, Slovakia, the UK, Romania, Estonia, Cyprus, Austria, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Finland, and Iceland.

It is being said that July 1 would mark the beginning of travel for non-Europeans as well, as the European Union has already announced a partial end to the travel ban from this date onwards. However, the fate of travellers from high-risk countries such as the USA is still unknown.
