Divya Dwaraknath
Divya is a tireless traveller and an ardent dreamer, who is on a mission to create memories. A romantic at heart, she loves the adventure of unplanned journeys. Believer of all things spontaneous and impulsive, she is a self-confessed addict of street food. She believes driving and biking is meditative. When she is not doing either, you will find her writing, or escaping to the jungle in the middle of the night.
Thottada is another pristine beach located near the Kannur Railway Station and is about 7 km from Kannur. This secluded beach has a small river at one end that connects to the sea. The beach is ideal for relaxing under the sun or for a swim. The waves are soft but do exercise caution if you swim too far into the sea. The final leg of the trip to the beach is downhill and could be confusing, so ask for directions frequently. There are some charming homestays and hotels around this beautiful beach, making this almost a private beach for guests. Weekends do get in the local crowd in small number, but on a weekday the beach is deserted thus giving the illusion of owning a piece of nature’s wonder. Stay on until the evening to capture the most amazing sunset over the Arabian Sea or head to Thottada village for a stroll. Carry your own little picnic treat as the beach is not commercial (the absence of shops is the most charming aspect of this beach), which makes it a great all-day getaway.
