Visit Bageshwar and the temples of Baijnath

When the tall pine trees and beautiful vistas of Binsar become mundane, one can take the road that winds itself past the popular Almora town to Bageshwar. Bageshwar is a nice little temple town about 40 km away from Binsar located at the confluence of Sarayu and Gomti rivers. The famous Baijnath Shiva temple lends its name to this town which has a beautiful landscape. Bageshwar also has many other important temples, of which, Chandika and Nileshwar temples are the prominent ones. Baijnath temple complex is located by the Gomti River and is a protected monument not very far from Bageshwar. Once the capital of Katyuri kings between the 7th and 10th century, Baijnath is popular for its Shiva temple. Featuring a unique architecture, this ancient temple complex has numerous stone shrines. Close to the temple, you can find a huge number of fishes, which gobble everything that is thrown to them. You can also visit Kot Bhramari Devi temple, which is a few kilometres away from Baijnath.
