Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan, month-long kayaking and rafting across various states starts

Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan has been launched by Jal Shakti Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The initiative is going to be a month-long adventure sports event in the Ganga, including open-water rafting and kayaking. The Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan is going to cover a total of 2500 km, from Devprayag in Uttarakhand to Ganga Sagar in West Bengal.
Covering the entire stretch of the river, this is the first-ever effort of this magnitude by the National Mission for Clean Ganga. The idea is to spread an important message for river rejuvenation and conservation of water through such adventure activities. The month-long event is going to cover some of the major states in India such as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. Within these states, the stops would be Rishikesh, Haridwar, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Sonepur, and Kolkata.

For the month-long event, the ministry has formed a nine-member team of rafters and swimmers from the Indian Armed Forces. Also, the team includes, Squadron Leader Dipti B Koshthi, who is a Jaguar aircraft pilot and certified open scuba diver, trekker and para jumper; Sergeant Johny Vj, who is an aqua parasailing instructor and certified open scuba diver; and mountaineer, Sergeant Srihari Sarripilli, who is a distinguished adventure sports enthusiast.
With all this and much more, all adventure enthusiasts must try the month-long adventure campaign for a better Ganga. In recent times, the government has carried out quite a few campaigns for a cleaner Ganga and to restore the flow of the river. The month-long initiative is sort of a jan andolan to raise awareness among the public.
