Two-wheelers banned at main tourist attractions in Kodaikanal

Taking into account the intense mist situation and increasing wild animal movement, officials of the Forest Department at Kodaikanal have inflicted a complete ban on two-wheeler ride at all the major tourist attractions in Kodaikanal. Moyar Point and Guna Caves have the most impact because of frequent movement of wild animals and thick mist.
The mist is making it difficult for people to ride freely blinding their vision. As per sources, this ban is going to stay till the harsh cold climate continues. The officials told that the ban is only for the benefit of people to ensure their safety. Protection of tourists in far-flung areas of Kodaikanal is utmost important.
Moreover, the entire region is home to wild animals, including Indian gaurs that can often be seen during the day time too. The region received a sudden swarm of tourists because of extended holidays.

As of now, Kodaikanal tourist places such as Pine Forests, Pillar Rock, Guna Caves and Moyar Point, are under Forest Department. Owing to the intense movement of wild elephants, the officials have already prohibited tourists from entering or going anywhere near the Berijam Lake. The decision was taken by the officials to curtail human-animal conflicts.
