Very soon, you will be able to fly to Dhaka from Guwahati. And this is likely to happen under the Centre’s affordable UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, thereby making your international flight all the more cost-effective. With the centre making efforts to finalise bids for the Guwahati-Bangkok and Guwahati-Dhaka routes, Guwahati is likely to become the first city to start operating international flights under the said regional connectivity scheme, i.e., UDAN. And as per rules of using the UDAN scheme for the international version, the state will be providing the subsidy instead of the central government. Also, under this international scheme, no particular airline company will be offered exclusivity over any route under the UDAN scheme.
