Brook Eddy’s story is the story that you need to read if you have been craving inspiration. More so, if you have been harbouring the classic dream of selling chai for a living and quitting the perks (pun intended) of city life. Well, Brook Eddy, an American, visited India in 2002, fell in love with chai among other things, got inspired and is now successfully running a business worth millions back home.

As her story goes, Eddy started selling the good, old, humble chai from the back of her in Colorado, a business idea that fast grew into a more than $35 million business. It was during her trip to India in 2002 that she fell for chai, nation’s favourite brew. Back home, she was disappointed to find a tea that had the same magical flavour. Her disappointed led her to develop her own concoction in 2006, naming it Bhakti Chai.


She started selling Bhakti Chai from the back of her car, soon attracting a cult following. Her brand soon got its first round of funding, which enabled her to hire brewers, buy a ginger-press and focus on a more detailed business model. Eddy’s passion soon led to success, with the company’s revenue pegged at $35 million for now. The organisation has a workforce of around 30 people now, and is growing strong.

Eddy has also launched GITA (Give, Inspire, Take Action), an organisation that has donated $500000 and works to support the homeless and poor. With her story for inspiration, you really should take that leap of faith, simplify life and turn your dream to reality without going broke.
