China already has more than 3000 stores and is adding more to it. The growth of this boutique coffee shop in various parts of the world shows how coffee is driving the world’s population and is giving birth to more and more competition. At a Shanghai launch event recently, Starbucks executive chairman Howard Schultz said that the number of stores in China would cross 10,000 within 10 years’ time.
2. Every 15 minutes, there’s a new store opening in the country at an alarming rate. It means that in 10 years time, China will leave behind the U.S.
3. The biggest and the latest store will easily be able to serve around 6 to 7,000 customers per day.
4. There are four entrances to the cafe and each one features enormous wooden doors, almost a foot thick. Quite interestingly, these doors are sculpted with a roasted coffee bean and are hydraulically-activated.
5. Covering the ceiling of the store are the 10,000 hand-made tiles that Chinese craftsmen prepared from American walnut.
6. The stores will remain open from 7 AM to 1 AM every day.
7. Also, this is the only Starbucks in China to serve alcoholic beverages including beer and wine.
