The Sugar Club
Chic and cosy venue for dancing, live shows and film

Tipple of choice
: If visiting in the late summer and you spot a Wild Irish Daiquiri on the menu, go for it: it includes seasonal wild Irish blueberries.
Situated just a minute from St Stephen's Green, this former film theatre is one of the best-looking venues in the city, with tiered velvet banquette seating and teak panelled walls lending a cool, retro lounge feel to the place. The crowd is correspondingly older and smarter than many places in town, although scruffy student types won't feel out of place.

Primarily an arts centre with an eclectic bookings policy, expect anything here from stand-up comedy to a modern jazz trio. A safe bet is late night Fridays which includes burlesque and cabaret shows and a midnight film screening.
