Kolkata, the City of Joy is known for its old world charm and one of the best ways to experience this, is to opt for a tram ride through the city. A legacy of the British, the tram service in Kolkata was launched in 1873 and is operational till date. The Kolkata Tramways are the oldest operating electric tram systems in Asia running since 1902. The trams of Kolkata have been featured in Bollywood movies like Barfi, Kahaani and Parineeta. Soak in the nostalgia as you pass through some of the most iconic structures of the city such as Saheed Minar and the Victoria Memorial. Take a ride in this iconic vehicle and get set to write your own travel stories. These days airconditioned trams are also available (though very few in number). While touring Kolkata, do opt for a tram ride if you want to experience the city in a different way.
