North Michigan Avenue – also known as The Magnificent Mile – is lined with great glass-and-steel temples to material goods. This impressive stretch of downtown also boasts grand old stone buildings, towering hotels and exclusive condos. Shopping along the avenue includes international brands like Armani, the world’s largest Ralph Lauren store, four floors of Tiffany and Co., Burberry, and Chicago firm Crate & Barrel’s flagship store. There are also several large indoor malls, including the 900 North Michigan Shops and Water Tower Place.

Start at Millennium Park to get the full view of the skyscrapers circling the lakefront, then walk north to the Chicago River to marvel at the view of Trump Tower, Tribune Tower, Marina City and many other landmarks that stretch 10 blocks north to the John Hancock Center.
