Located in Vienna’s Museumsquartier (MQ), the Leopold Museum houses many of Austria’s finest artistic works, encompassing the nation’s rich and varied history. Amongst the different works, you’ll come across Albin Egger-Lienz, Richard Gerstl, Oskar Kokoschka and an extensive Egon Schiele collection. In addition to these celebrated Austrian painters, creative gems by many other artists are on display.
Works on canvas and other creative forms, from the 19th and 20th centuries, comprise the bulk of the museum’s collection. The paintings are impressive individually, or taken in as a whole. The Leopold Museum’s popularity amongst tourists and locals alike testifies to the allure of the art contained inside.
