Winter in Edmonton can certainly be cold, there’s no arguing that, but it can also be a ton of fun for visitors who are coming here for the first time. Edmonton, in Canada’s western province of Alberta is by far one of the best winter destinations. Whether you plan to visit over the holidays and take in some of the Christmas lights in the famous Candy Cane Lane neighborhood, or attend one of the winter festivals, chances are you won’t want to leave. Try your hand at deep freezer races, which a unique sport to the city, or head just outside the city to witness the northern lights. Put on some snowshoes or skis and explore nature, you could join an adventure company and try your hand at ice fishing. The city of Edmonton is literally bursting with winter activities, and all you need to decide is which color of hat and mitts you should pack.
