Located in Sector 1 at the northern end of the city, the Capitol Complex consists of the Secretariat, the High Court and the Legislative Assembly, each representing the three major functions of the state. They are interconnected by a central esplanade with numerous monuments and pools.
The Secretariat, the largest and tallest of the Capitol buildings, is the official headquarters of the governments of Punjab and Haryana. The façade of this eight-storey structure, featuring perforated windows and exposed concrete ramps, was designed to shield its interiors from the sun.
