One of the most well-known museums of Phuket, Thalang National Museum is the custodian of island’s cultural and historical heritage. This place will get you a glimpse of the ancient artifacts from Phuket along with numerous exhibits about the 18th century Burmese invasion of the island, where two sisters defended their motherland with exemplary courage. Apart from native history, the museum also showcases the influence of other cultures on Thailand. The large statue of Hindu deity Vishnu (discovered in Phang Nga in the early 1900s) that finds place in the main hall of the museum elaborates this point. Get to know the place and its people better after a rendezvous with exhibits about the life and time of natives, the indigenous Sea Gypsy culture, Thailand’s Chinese bequest and the tin-mining history of Phuket.
