Taiwan to ring in a magical Christmas with Disney this year

Taiwan is all set to bring a cheerful end to a year that will not be forgotten for its lack of cheer. The nation, in a bid to its revive tourism industry as well as to make it a better year-end, is joining hands with Disney for some magical, unseen Christmas celebrations. The beautiful nation is up for a mammoth 52-day long fairytale themed festival in collaboration with Walt Disney, and one can very well expect the fun that it can be.

Taiwan's Christmas celebrations for the year are titled, Christmasland in New Taipei City, and offer quite a lot. Disney and Taiwan authorities have joined hands for a spectacle that promises to be the largest ever 3-D light show, impressive art installations of some of Disney's most-loved princesses, Disney-themed bridges, almost 50 other art installations and a lot more.Taipei's City Hall is also set to be decked up with light projectors that would be spread over an enormous area of more than 5000 sq metres. While Taiwan does not have a huge number of Christians for its population, the nation is famed for its annual Christmas celebrations that are also the biggest of all annual events here.
While the country has not reported any locally-transmitted case of COVID-19 for the past six months, due precautions are in place for Christmas celebrations. Rather than encouraging an on-site gathering of revellers, the authorities are keen to make people join in virtually as the event will be live streamed. The celebrations will only be open to residents and domestic tourists, with clear guidelines about social distancing, wearing of masks, and sanitisation processes.

Taiwan hopes to make the event even bigger for the next year, while the rest of the world hopes to be able to travel again and join in the fun like the pre-COVID days.
