This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks the first time such a partnership has been formed to increase the popularity of the iconic event, scheduled to take place from February 7-23, 2024, at Surajkund, Faridabad. It is one of the largest craft fairs in the world visited by lakhs of people from all over.
The Managing Director of Haryana Tourism, Sunil Kumar said, “This partnership with Delhi Metro is a game-changer for the Surajkund Mela, offering the convenience of metro connectivity, digital ticketing, and wider outreach, making the Mela more accessible and attractive to a diverse audience.”
Not only this, Delhi Metro will also promote the fair across its network including announcements, scrolling messages on Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS), and promotional videos at metro stations. Prime metro stations will also display banners, and regular announcements.
Along with this, DMRC will also manage the parking facilities at Surajkund, ensuring 24/7 operation to accommodate the large number of visitors expected during the event. HTC will further support the digital ticketing process by sharing the DMRC app link on its official website, for the convenience of the visitors.
The crafts mela is internationally acclaimed for bringing together thousands of artisans from India and abroad on one single platform. Here artists get an opportunity to showcase their regional heritage. This year, the event will feature handlooms, handicrafts, and cultural performances, with a focus on theme states and international participation, especially from SAARC countries.
