Sunaparanta—Goa Center for the Arts

Photography, paintings, poetry, music, theatre, exhibitions and talks; expressions from across India and the world find space in this popular international city and Sunaparanta, defined by some as the land of gold and beyond, is one of its biggest curators in Panaji. A dream project by one of the best known industrialists of Goa, Mr. Dattaraj V. Salgaocar, Sunaparanta is host to works by the who's who of the literary and creative world. William Dalrymple, Shekhar Gupta and Mario Miranda are some of the tallest names whose work has been proudly showcased in this Goa Center for the Arts. That's not all. Sunaparanta's Café Al Fresco, besides delighting its patrons with tasteful servings, also provides a glimpse of many emerging faces and names in this fascinating world.

Situated on Altinho hill adjoining the conservation areas of Mala and Fontainhas, Sunaparanta is housed in a heritage property. With a central courtyard turned into a cafeteria, the bungalow has remnants of both pre-Portuguese and Portuguese era designs. If you are out for a walk, keep going past Mala area towards Bishop's Palace on Altinho Hill. If you check out the events beforehand, you might find something of interest. If not, there's always the courtyard. Café Al Fresco, an excellent space for conversations, usually remains open between 10:00 am and 07:00 pm.
