The carnival lasts for two weeks leading up to Shrove Tuesday, and in New Orleans, the people and the organisers pull out all stops to make it a success. Each day is marked by parades with people dressed in outlandish and outrageous clothes. You will find them throwing gifts, chains, doubloons and many other things to bystanders watching the parades.
