London’s oldest market, Spitalfields was once a Sunday-only affair but is now open all through the week. What makes it a convenient for day-tripping, is the fact that it’s sheltered by a glass canopy, so even the city’s notoriously unpredictable weather can’t spoil your plans. This trader’s market has over a 100 stalls which sell everything from artwork, food, and cooking ingredients, to vintage fashion finds, jewellery, toys, home interiors and quirky knick-knacks. When you need a time-out, just venture beyond the canopy to one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars before nicking back in to load up your shopping bag.
