Occupying an area of 10,000 sq m (three Olympic pools put together) and two basement floors of the mammoth Siam Paragon mall in Bangkok, Siam Ocean World is an underwater wonderland and Southeast Asia’s largest oceanarium. Whether you’re looking to educate your kids or amaze them, this is the perfect place to spend a few hours. Divided into seven distinct areas—each displaying a separate theme—it is home to over 400 species of fish in addition to crustaceans and even penguins. The highlight here is the transparent tunnel passing beneath the main tank which brings the sea closer than ever before. Although the kids will delight in feeding the penguins, accompanying adults with a diving license have the option to go diving with the sharks. At any given time, there are a host of innovative exhibitions which are recreational as well as a great way to learn.
