Pokhara might not come across as a well known shopping destination; but to write off the city’s potential as a souvenir hub will be totally unjustified. The Lakeside region of the city, located on the northeastern banks of Phewa Lake, is on constant uphill radar as a commercial centre. One will find several hotels and restaurants here along with lines of shops and stalls selling takeaway style items. A stark contrast to the commercial Lakeside market is the Old Bazaar where time seems to be taking a slower route. There one will find people in bright ethnic attires belonging to different tribes of the nation. The impression of the dominant Newari culture is pretty much evident in the temples and buildings of Old Bazaar.
