The cultural milieu of Bhopal is a colourful canvas full of myriad places that offer anyone a great culture trail in and around the city. Kick off your trail with a visit to the famed Sanchi Stupa, located around 50 kms away from Bhopal. A UNESCO World Heritage Site by all justification, Sanchi Stupa is one of the finest examples of ancient Buddhist architecture in India. Coming back to the city, you can spend some time in Shaukat Mahal and Sardar Manzil, two royal buildings situated at the entrance to the Chowk area in the heart of the walled city. The former is a 19th century palace and the latter now houses government offices and establishments. Apart from this, you can get a glimpse of history and past in museums like State Museum, Birla Museum, Museum of Man and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya.
