To get away from it all, sometimes you just have to get out of Mumbai. Though still technically within the aegis of the city, this forest reserve in North Mumbai has the cleaner air and the lower temperatures that you'd expect of a city getaway. Unfortunately for the environmentalists, a car is the preferred way to explore the reserve since it's simply too sprawling for foot warriors. During the monsoon the forest reveals its several secret waterfalls, but it's a windfall in any season.
