About a kilometre towards the north of Ahmedabad, within the old City, Mirzapur is the sporting ground for roadside chess played at an astonishingly rapid pace. The games begin in the early evening and last until the wee hours of the morning. Some of the regulars here have been playing for over 50 years, and newcomers are welcome to join in the challenge.
