Chicago is a great biking town, mostly because it’s flat as a dollar bill but also because of its generous bike lanes. Biking is a popular way to get around the city, even when it’s finger-numbingly cold out, and there’s no better route than the Chicago Lakefront Trail, which takes you along most of the length of the city, and possesses beautiful views of Lake Michigan as well as the Chicago skyline. A great trip is from Promontory Point to the Downtown area, where you have easy access to the Art Institute and Millennium Park for a cool down. But the entire bike path is strongly recommended for the more committed bikers. Rent a bike but avoid the Divvy bikes which have to be checked in every thirty minutes and run exorbitant fees if you fail to do just that.
