A team of mountaineers from Pune have taken up the mammoth task of cleaning Mount Kanchenjunga, the tallest in India. The mountaineering group, known as Giripremi, is going to undertake the operation, while summiting the tallest mountain of India. The expedition will be flagged off by Jamling Tenzing Norgay, son of Tenzing Norgay, the first man to climb Mount Everest, alongside Edmund Hillary. Jamling Norgay himself had climbed Everest in 1996.
The group Giripremi has completed similar expeditions in the recent past, where they have gone to glaciers and trekking trails. The mountaineers had previously climbed six peaks, rising 8000 m and above. This time the group will comprise 20–25 mountaineers, who will embark on climbing Mount Kanchenjunga, and it is being called Mount Kanchenjunga Eco Expedition 2019. It will be held in April-May, 2019.
