Drawing in hordes of tourists (even people living in the Doon valley below drive up especially to stock up), Prakash store in Sister’s Bazaar—where it is the star from amongst the handful of stores—was initially popularised by its mention in Ruskin Bond’s books (the writer is a Mussoorie local), but remains one of the hill station’s must-visits for its delicious stock of cheese, jams, peanut butter and candy even today. Aside from tourists, the shop caters predominantly to students of the school next door (Woodstock school has an international student body), and is by far the best confectionary in town. Try their yak milk cheese, the St. Dalfour jelly (choose from among plum, apricot and raspberry), and the home-made peanut butter—this is one spot you don’t want to miss.
