Alcazar

The only competitor that the aqueduct has is the stunningly beautiful Alcazar or Royal Palace. Also called Alcazar of Segovia or the Castle of Segovia, it is a vividly beautiful old stone edifice dating back to the 12th century. It has enchanting towers, capped by green pointed structures, and it feels like entering a fairy tale. Incidentally, there are stories that it was the inspiration for Walt Disney Cinderella’s castle, which eventually became the logo of the entertainment company. There are varied influences that have gone into it—Romanesque, Mudejar etc. Inside, there are royal rooms with artefacts, walls with beautiful murals, windows with elaborate stained glass works, exquisitely sculpted gardens in the courtyard and lamp posts with mysterious gargoyles and dragons.
