Home to thousands of tropical, colourful and exotic marine creatures, the Phuket Aquarium is a favoured destination for those travelling with kids to Phuket. The aquarium has over 30 tanks of freshwater and saltwater creatures and was established in 1983. The star attraction of the aquarium is a glass tunnel, where visitors are surrounded by marine life. The displays outside the panels are in Thai and English, featuring interesting details and facts about the fish in the enclosures. Outside the main gallery, a nature trail leads to turtles; lots of them. Large pools teem with baby hawksbills and green sea turtles honing their swimming technique, and injured adults enjoy an early retirement in the rehabilitation area.
