After a railway station in Jaipur and the Maninagar Station in Gujarat deployed an all-women staff lately, the Indian Railways has come up with yet another impressive initiative in honour of women.On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, the railways board flagged off the Mumbai Central- Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express with women ticket checking staff on-board. The train departed at 06:25 AM today.

In yet another first in the history of Indian Railways, the Mumbai Central-New Delhi Rajdhani Express will now have a sanitary pad vending machine on-board.
Already, in January 2018, the Matunga Railway Station in Mumbai has entered the coveted Limca Book of Records 2018 for being manned completely by women employees.
Central Railway (CR) too deployed all-women staff on the popular Deccan Queen Express train that runs between Mumbai and Pune.

Likewise, Deccan Queen Express which runs to and fro Mumbai and Pune, under the supervision of Central Railway, has positioned an all-female team on-board the train to observe Women’s Day 2018.
The honour of driving the Deccan Queen Express was given to Asia’s first female train driver Surekha Yadav. She was assisted by loco pilot Trushna Joshi, and Shweta Hone took charge of guarding the train during the trip.
According to news reports, from March 8, both train no. 11029 DN Koyna Express and train no. 11008 UP Deccan Express will have women-only staff for good.
