To get started, head to the far north end of Las Vegas strip and immerse yourself in some of the city’s history. The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort Historic Park is a museum that tells the story of how Las Vegas was created and how it turned into a busting city that it is today. Visitors will learn that the first settlers to this area were a group of Mormon missionaries back in 1855, who in turn built this adobe fort. Today, visitors can actually see some portion of the remaining original fort and many artifacts from the time. It takes a whopping one dollar to enter and parking is free, making this one of the best deal in Vegas. The visitors’ centre includes a timeline of the early years, and a video talking about the settlers and artifacts. Outside, visitors will be treated to a ranch house that houses some of the original fort, a reconstruction of soldiers’ living quarters and 1850’s freight wagon. Nowhere else in Vegas can you learn history of this city as much as you can here.
