A typical souk is an open-air marketplace, which takes Dubai shopping to the next level. While that definition may not hold for something like the glitzy Gold Souk in Dubai, which is a modern mall, the city still retains a number of classic agoras where locals and tourists go for shopping in Dubai. Places to shop in Dubai are many, however, for authentic flavour of local life, head for the Spice Souk or even the Textile Souk if you'd like to take home some hand-embroidered souvenirs. The fish market is another fun chaotic place to visit in the early mornings and evenings, even if you're not going to buy any seafood. Dubai is home to a wide variety of souks, such as textile souk, spice souk, the fish market, Souk Al Bahar, Gold Souk and Souk Madinat.
