National Zoological Park

If you’re visiting the capital, and need ways to keep your tot entertained, a trip to the National Zoo, or ‘chidiya ghar’ as it is popularly referred to, is both fun and educational. Located just minutes from central Delhi, close to Pragati Maidan, it sprawls across 176 acres and is home to almost 1350 animals and 130 bird species from around the globe. There’s even a 16th century citadel and a lake to go boating. And don’t worry about carrying snacks—there are kiosks scattered at regular intervals, and even a cafeteria serving quick bites.
