Dip in for a culture dose

Noteworthy for: A highlight is Caravaggio's stunning 'The Taking of Christ', which was discovered in 1993 in a Jesuit house in Dublin after being 'lost' for hundreds of years.
Word to the wise: There are free public tours on Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 1pm and 2pm.

This gem of a gallery, located just a few minutes from Grafton Street, contains a relatively modest, but perfectly formed, collection of works which can be enjoyed in a spare hour.
Caravaggio, Rubens, Monet, Picasso, Bonnard, Vermeer, El Greco, Velazquez and Goya are amongst the big hitters on show, represented by some of their lesser-known (but still wonderful) paintings. There's also an extensive collection from the Irish school of painting, led by Ireland's most important 20th century artist Jack B Yeats.
