The Napier Museum is an art and natural history museum that is located in the heart of the city, and as built in the 19th century. It is named after the then Madras Governor General, John Napier. The beautiful architecture boas Indo-Saracenic influence, with a natural air-conditioning system. Visitors can witness a large collection of archaeological and historic artefacts, bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot and ivory carvings. Visitors can marvel at the stunning Japanese shadow play leather figures that depict the epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana. A visit to the Napier Museum allows guests to take a good look into the cultures and traditions of Kerala.
