Seems like this Diwali, half of the country is going to suffer through heavy rains. India meteorological department (IMD) issued a travel advisory asking tourists to stay away from Goa. The weather department has also said that this year, the state will experience the wettest Diwali.
IMD Goa director, K V Padgalwar said that they generally do not issue travel warnings, or alerts but this time they had to as a number of people called them asking about the weather. He further explained that if the cyclone is coming from the west coast, it’s better to avoid the whole area altogether.
Cyclone Kyarr is caused by a depression formed in the Arabian Sea on October 24, 2019. The cyclone is supposed to hit Karnataka too and a two-day red alert has been issued in the state.
The Dakshin Kannada district has been put on special alert as it has been getting heavy to moderate rainfall since Wednesday. The district till now has received 61 mm of rainfall and in the last seven days, the district has reported 187 mm rainfall against the normal of 51 mm in the month of October.
Rain this year seems to be ruining people’s plan for Diwali on big level.
