At a time when mankind was going through the dawn of civilisation, pottery was an essential way of creating basic needs. Over the years, this skill gave birth to an art in the form of various sculptures, utensils and so on. The Museum of Traditional Pottery in Athens is an ode to that form of art. Situated within a lovely looking neoclassical building around the corner of the Keramikos site, this museum showcases the brilliance of contemporary Greek pottery. A collection that totals to around 4,500 pottery items, this museum has the finest of the country’s pottery artwork on display. Within the museum, one can also learn about pottery making from the in-house reconstruction of a traditional potter’s workshop here. The museum also holds periodic pottery exhibitions.
