Mumbai’s Sassoon Dock transformed into an art project

The historic Sassoon Dock of Mumbai was a place where the smell of fish would usually envelope the air, but all that seems to be a thing of past for now. The Sassoon Dock Arts Project worked for the past two years to bring art into the lives of common people, and their destination of choice was Sassoon Dock. Started by St+art India Foundation, the Sassoon Dock is definitely going through a revival in this age and time. The dock is decorated with stunning murals, and other such fantastic surreal and modern art works all over.

St+art India Foundation also worked on other projects such as the Churchgate Station mural, the dragon on Jindal Mansion, while also taking on other such projects in Mahim. The initiative is to take art to unexpected places, and they have numerous world-renowned artists behind a project, and the local communities are involved as well. The idea of taking art to the streets is definitely something extraordinary, as it would help give people an insight into the world of art.
The Sassoon Dock Project in Mumbai has witnessed the participation of as many as 27 artists. Seven of these artists are from countries like Austria, Singapore, Australia, France, Germany, Mexico and Spain. Working here for a month, these artists have very successfully transformed the Mumbai Port Tryst into a work of art. Aiming to bring art to one and all, St+art India Foundation is stepping out from the galleries and taking art to the masses. The art projects were also hosted in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. You can visit the Sassoon Dock Art Project now, which is open until 30 December.
