After several complaints registered by passengers against food vendors for overcharging in trains, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has decided to introduce billing through Point of Sale (POS) machines now, which will restrict vendors from overcharging the passengers.Recently, an official statement was released by the Indian Railways reading, "IRCTC has been continuously taking passenger friendly steps so as to ensure smooth catering services as well as disseminate information critical for passenger travelling in trains. This will help not only making passengers aware of relevant information but also in improving the passenger satisfaction".
Here’s a list of few important things you must know about these new hand-held machines:

1) The POS machines are already functioning in SBC-NDLS Karnataka Express on a trial basis.
2) 100 machines will be introduced in 26 trains (next phase).

3) The service providers are being given training on how to use these POS machines in Noida.
4) For the first batch, the training will be held from March 21 and will continue till March 24, 2018.
5) To monitor the catering services, IRCTC is planning to deploy its official on these trains.
6) These officials will be given tablets or tabs wherein they will collect the feedback of passengers on the new system and POS machines.
By implementing all these measures, Indian Railways is trying its level best to provide passengers a satisfactory journey experience.
