The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) will be organising a weeklong carnival at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to commemorate Jaya He Museum. It will be coinciding with the International Museum Day on May 18.
A senior official from the MIAL stated, “We tied up with International Council of Museums (ICOM) last week to ensure Jaya He occupies a place among other museums in the world. Under the theme of hyper connecting of museums, we aim to take the passengers back to their childhood. We have used paper as a theme and thus stalls including different craftwork involving paper will be set up across the airport.”
Two artists, Anil Nayak and Moreshwar Patil, who were behind the designing of artefacts displayed in the Jaya He Museum, will also visit the museum during the weeklong carnival. They will be interacting with passengers, and make their live sketches, which the passengers will be able to take along as souvenirs.
To further promote the museum, the MIAL has also organised tours for passengers, which are properly customised as per travel schedule and preferences of the passengers. Reportedly, around 40 percent of the visitors were foreign tourists last year. This year, it is expected that this weeklong carnival will further lead to an increase in tourist footfall.
